Our aim is to advance the practice and understanding of the science of geophysics in Canada and to promote the exchange of ideas and information within the geophysical community.

The GAC Geophysics Division promotes the study and practice of geophysics in Canada. The Division sponsors special sessions and short courses at national conferences, the publication of short course notes and special volumes, and public outreach activities. The Geophysics Division also sponsors an award for the best student presentation in geophysics at the annual GAC meeting, the STUDENT BEST PAPER AWARD. Suggestions and comments pertaining to Division activities are welcomed by the executive. Annual newsletters and other items of interest are sent to members
through e-mail. Please make sure your e-mail address is current. Upcoming election: The Division will be seeking candidates for President, Vice President and Secretary-Treasurer to serve two year terms starting in May 2012. The election will take place at the St. John's 2012 meeting. Please contact the Division executive if you wish to nominate a member to stand for election.
